Stop The Station Project and Save Historic Gettysburg
Most Recent Borough Action
On December 9, 2024 the Gettysburg Borough Council granted a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) for the design of the Station Project buildings upon the recommendation of HARB.
Next Steps
The developer must submit a land development plan to the Gettysburg Planning Commission which must include items such as: building placement, ordinance compliance, traffic impacts, water and sewer, storm water management, easements, lighting, parking and circulation.
The Borough has not followed it’s own regulatory process
The Borough has not provided a cost benefit analysis, a traffic study, or a housing study
The Concerns of the National Park Service
“…. the Gettysburg Station Railroad building will have significant negative visual impacts to both the Carlisle streetscape and nationally significant views from Gettysburg National Military Park as well as the visitor experience in both the Borough and the Park”.
– (NPS Superintendent in November 20, 2024 letter to HARB)

There will be opportunity for public comment at all of the Planning Commission meetings the third Monday of each month. There are higher and better uses for this property. The Station Project, as proposed, will be detrimental to heritage tourism – Gettysburg’s core economic engine.
